🎁What Is Octoplus?
Octoplus is Octopus Energy's free loyalty and rewards programme. It's available to all Octopus Energy customers at no cost and requires no subscription. Once signed up via the Octopus app, you earn OctoPoints through several routes — which you can then redeem for bill credit or partner rewards.
It launched as a way to reward customers for helping balance the grid during high-demand periods, but has since expanded to include a monthly prize spin and partner reward opportunities that make it worthwhile even when the grid doesn't need help.

There are four main ways to earn OctoPoints:
Reduce usage during peak grid demand windows and earn OctoPoints per kWh saved vs your baseline.
Typically winter weekday evenings, 16:00–19:00

💷What Are OctoPoints Worth?
The base conversion is simple: 800 OctoPoints = £1 in bill credit. Points can also be redeemed through partner offers — Greggs vouchers, prize draw entries, and discount codes — which can sometimes stretch the value further than straight bill credit.
The monthly prize spin is the most underrated feature. The minimum prize is 8 points (essentially nothing), but the potential maximum is 800,000 points — worth £1,000. It's genuinely free to enter every month, making it worth doing simply out of habit.
⚡Saving Sessions in 2026 — What to Expect
Saving Sessions are triggered when the National Grid Electricity System Operator (NGESO) needs to reduce demand — usually during cold winter evenings when demand peaks and renewable output is low. When a session is called, Octopus notifies Octoplus members and invites them to reduce electricity usage during a set window, typically one hour between 16:00–19:00 on weekdays.
You earn OctoPoints based on how much less electricity you use compared to your personal baseline. The more you cut back, the more you earn. Customers with smart devices — heat pumps, EV chargers, dishwashers — can schedule these to avoid the session window with minimal lifestyle disruption.
Important for 2026: Sessions are less frequent than in prior winters. Summer months can pass with no sessions at all. Don't factor Saving Sessions heavily into your expected earnings — treat them as a bonus rather than a reliable income stream. The monthly spin and referrals are more predictable sources of points.

Octoplus costs nothing to join and takes minutes to set up in the app. Even if you never participate in a Saving Session, the monthly prize spin alone makes it worthwhile — it's free to enter and the maximum prize is £1,000. It's not a reason to switch supplier on its own, but for existing or new Octopus customers it's a no-brainer add-on.
The realistic annual value depends on how actively you participate. A passive member who only does the monthly spin might earn a few pounds per year in bill credit.
